About The Big Wine World

What is it about wine that makes it so alluring?

Is it the way it swirls around the glass, dancing in the light, is it the discovery of an untold story, which unfolds with every sip? For wine is informed by the place it is made, by the hands that guide it, and - most importantly for me - by the place in which we drink it.

Each time I open a bottle of wine it’s about more than what’s in the bottle. It’s about where I am and who I’m drinking it with. Because while we may forget the specific bottle of plonk - however wonderful it may have been - what we can be sure of are the memories made and stories shared. After all, wine is the coaxer of stories.

Many wonderful and memorable experiences I’ve made in life have wine associated with them in some way. Even before I was old enough to drink, I remember dinner parties with my family, and my grandma having a cheeky Sherry before Sunday lunch.

All of the feelings wine evokes within me has made me wine curious. It is what has led me to study wine qualifications, to travel to new countries, to create The Big Wine World, in the hope that through carefully curated experiences - without the pomp - I can help you navigate the world of wine but most importantly, memorable moments with friends.

Run to Wine

Now, you may be wondering where I had the idea to bring together running and wine. I love running, trail running specifically. It’s as much of my identity as wine is.

After hosting my first Run to Wine event at Love Trails Festival, an adventure running festival in Wales, I realised I’m not the only runner who loves a glass of vino as equally as a run. I met some amazing people at each wine tasting I hosted, and their support is what inspired me to create my own running community.

See you at an event, soon?
